City proclaims March as Athletic Training Month

Posted: March 23rd, 2013

ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH – Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Mayor Tony Bosbous presents a city proclamation recognizing March as national athletic training month to Lake Superior State University athletic training professors Sarah Ouimette and Joe Susi, their students, plus a number of program alums with War Memorial Hospital. The date of their city commission appearance, March 18, was also declared Athletic Training Day. The group also poses with a trophy LSSU won last fall by beating 24 Michigan university teams in a competition that challenged students on athletic training skills. Successful LSSU AT graduates become certified in the prevention of athletic injuries, clinical evaluation of injuries and diagnosis, immediate injury care; and injury treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning. Many support professional sports, work in sports medicine clinics, join the athletic staff of secondary schools, or enroll in post-graduate programs in physical therapy. Run a Web search on LSSU athletic training for full information. (LSSU/Drew Putvin)
