HALLOWED WALK – American flags, one for each of the 2,973 people killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks, line a sidewalk that Jennifer Elftman and Jacob Pleiman take to class at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. LSSU's campus life office spent the night of Sept. 10 placing the display on a 1000-sqaure-foot section of the campus commons. The display will be up through the afternoon of Sept. 11, with an honor color guard provided by Sector Sault of the U.S. Coast Guard. Elftman is a first-year criminal justice student from Pewaukee, Wisc. Pleiman is a sophomore in parks and recreation from Gladwin, Mich. (LSSU/John Shibley)
