SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Two organizations at Lake Superior State University have joined forces to present “Dancers Against Cancer,” a fundraising program to share cancer information and good will while raising funds for the Road to Recovery program at War Memorial Hospital.

The program, sponsored by the LSSU Dance Company and Alpha Theta Omega sorority, will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the LSSU Arts Center’s dance studio, room 209. Admission is by donation.

The event includes information on cancer and disease prevention, as well as breast cancer screening and cancer detection. In addition, the LSSU Dance Company will provide a short performance and the group will lead dance and movement sessions in jazz, jive and yoga.

Those who attend will be able to help themselves to baked goods and cider. All donations will be used to support the WMH Road to Recovery program, which offers transportation to cancer patients who need treatment out of town.

“This program is a time for us to dance and move together, learn more about breast cancer awareness and detection, and share stories while we eat sweet treats,” said Prof. Deborah Choszczyk, who teaches dance at LSSU. “Everyone is welcome. We all dance in life!”
