Posted: October 16th, 2013

BOYS OF LAKERTOWN – Players and staff from the 1988 NCAA Division I National Championship Laker hockey team pose with the venerable Laker mascot, Seamore, in Taffy Abel's Zamboni area shortly before being introduced during a home hockey game on Oct. 12. From left are Kord Cernich, Karl Johnston, Gil Somes, Dean Dyer, Ken Martel (with trophy), Brett Barnett, Seamore, Pete Stauber, Terry Hossack, Jeff Jablonski, Ed Fuss, Anthony Palumbo, Craig Hewson, Rene Chapdelaine, and Jeff Napierala. The campus life office and Laker athletics used the hockey reunion and home stand against Robert Morris University to unveil a new design for Seamore. The updated mascot anchors a rebooted Seamore Kids Club. Look for Seamore on the ice, mingling with the crowds, welcoming new members to his club, and patiently biding his time until the '88 squad's 30th-anniversary reunion. (LSSU/John Shibley)
