Redefining the Classroom

Venerable Doctor Who plot vehicle makes campus appearance

Posted: November 23rd, 2013

MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER – Fans of the classic British sci-fi show Doctor Who gather for photos in front of the good doctor's Tardis, which made a Nov. 22 appearance on Lake Superior State University's campus, in recognition of the show's 50th birthday. The Dishman family — LSSU student Jeanine (in door), Sue, and Larry — from Clinton Township, Mich., and Kati Doty of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., capture likenesses next to the elusive prop. LSSU's Doctor Who club spent several weeks preparing, painting, and assembling the Tardis, which Doctor Who uses to travel across vast expanses of space, time, and story lines. The club gathers each Thursday at 7 p.m. to enjoy watching the show on a 30-foot star dome in Crawford Hall's Ben Long Planetarium. (LSSU/John Shibley)
