RECOVERY LIFT – Students in Lake Superior State University's Fall 2013 MRKT 379 Sports and Events Marketing class, in yellow, present an oversized $3,048 check to the War Memorial Hospital Road to Recovery program, which provides cancer patients with transportation to out-of-town radiation appointments. The contribution was from a class-organized Colors 4 Cancer benefit where more than 100 runners were dashed with powdered color paint as they walked or ran along a five-kilometer course. Accepting the gift are volunteer drivers (from left) Charlie Bishop, Erik Frimberger and Grant Voegtline. Marla Bunker, WMH vice president of nursing and operations, stands among LSSU student organizers (from left, center) Michael Burzynski, Danielle Reveley, Amanda Peters, Nicole Stratelak, Kimberly Thornton, Rikki Timmer, Sara Loughrige, Katie LaLonde, and Erin Anderson Scott. Not pictured is Philip Dittburner. Between this and other community benefit events, the class raised more than $5,600 in less than eight weeks, bettering last year’s cumulative mark by 35%.
