Posted: March 24th, 2014

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Michigan Works! and several partners are offering three community job fairs this spring, including one at Lake Superior State University that is open to students as well as the public on March 26.

During the fairs, job seekers will be able to apply for a variety of year-round and seasonal jobs in one convenient location, while employers can save time and money by contacting many prospective workers in just a few short hours. Job seekers of all ages are encouraged to attend. College students and military veterans are also invited to participate. The events are free to both employers and job seekers.

The Sault Job Fair will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the Walker Cisler Center. Michigan Works! is working with the Sault Area Career Center and Consolidated Community School Services to organize the event. Employers interested in attending are being asked to register online through the Michigan Works! website. They may also contact the Michigan Works! office, 906-635-1752 or 1-800-285-WORKS.

Job seekers are reminded to make a favorable first impression by bringing resumes, if they have one, and being prepared to complete application forms on site.

Following the Sault Job Fair, another will be held in Newberry from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at the LMAS District Health Department on Hamilton Lake Road, sponsored by Consolidated Community School Services and Michigan Works!

A third fair will be held from 1-4 p.m. on April 15 at the Little Bear Arena, sponsored by the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce and Consolidated Community School Services. At the beginning of the fair, Denise Hansen will offer a popular instructional session for job seekers that she has presented in the past. Those who attend can get certificates for their participation.
