Sorority to hold light walk against darkness of suicide, depression

Posted: April 9th, 2014

LIGHT WALKERS – Women in Lake Superior State University's Rho Chi Omega are fired up for a campus suicide awareness walk they will be sponsoring on April 12. The sorority's Out of the Darkness campus walk is one of several three-mile walks taking place on campuses across the country to increase awareness about depression and suicide and provide support for survivors of suicide loss. LSSU's event starts at 10 a.m. at the Arts Center and winds around campus until noon. Run a Web search on "AFSP Lake Superior" to register for the walk and make a pledge to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The sorority hopes to raise at least $1,500 for AFSP research and suicide prevention outreach activities. (LSSU/John Shibley)
