RAISING BUCKS FOR THE DUCKS – Lake Superior State University’s student chapter of Ducks Unlimited just closed the books on its most successful banquet in the club’s seven-year history. The group raised just over $7,000 for Ducks Unlimited, one of the nation’s biggest conservation organizations, according to club president Jake Crawford, a fisheries and wildlife management major from Kalkaska. The event saw 112 in attendance, also a record for the club, which is the only active DU student chapter in the state of Michigan. LSSU DU recently elected officers for the coming year with Crawford being re-elected as president; Logan Nevins, a junior in conservation biology from Homer, Mich., re-elected as vice president; Samantha Griffin, a senior in fisheries and wildlife management from North Branch, re-elected as secretary; and Eli Leach, a freshman criminal justice/law enforcement major from Pickford, elected as treasurer.
