ComedySportz student improv gets in last laugh of the year

Posted: April 25th, 2014

LAST LAUGH OF THE YEAR! – It’s been an amazing debut season for Lake Superior State University's ComedySportz College Team. The student improvisers had six mainstage shows, one show at jitters; a giant high-five line at a hockey game; an opportunity to train their peers; and an Out of the Darkness Walk to raise awareness for suicide prevention. But there is still one more show before the inaugural year ends. The troupe goes live Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. on the LSSU Arts Center main stage. Tickets are $5 for all at the door. For those who haven't seen it yet, ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played like a sport where the audience decides who wins. A match features two teams of comedy "actletes" competing for laughs and points, with a referee keeping things moving and calling fouls. The team will be playing a whole show of new games for this show in April. This month the team is sad to say goodbye to the graduating seniors. The troupe will turn in their uniforms at the end of the year. In the fall, they will all audition for their spots again. Anyone and everyone is welcome to audition or take an improv class.
