Redefining the Classroom

Ceremony awakens South Hall for renovation

Posted: April 26th, 2014

SOUTH HALL UNCHAINED – Lake Superior State University business students Madelynn Farkas and Andre Jacques unshackle South Hall from its decade-long sleep on April 25. Students, faculty, and staff joined the College of Business and Engineering for a special ceremony that "set free" a padlocked South Hall for renovation beginning this summer. During a brief program LSSU president Tony McLain and David R. Finley, dean of the College Business and Engineering, presented student representatives with a time capsule to be filled with South Hall memories over the coming year. The capsule will be put into place during the building's rededication in 2015. Official groundbreaking on the project is next Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. Helping Farkas and Jacques, standing, from left, are Dean David Finley (in between, cheering), Sam Gilbert, Megan Baril (peering), and Sara Loughrige. Knelling in front are Emily Brosco (left) and Brenna Moher. (Photo by John Shibley)
