Redefining the Classroom

Graduates snap slushy snow-selfies before commencement

Posted: May 13th, 2014

SLUSHY SNOW-SELFIE – Lake Superior State University student Derric Knight (Hamtramck, Mich.) readies a selfie as fellow graduates Ryan Wiseley (left, from Hillman, Mich.) and Angel E. Gama-Diaz (West Bloomfield, Mich.) prepare to oblige him with a dose of snow. LSSU still had 10-foot snowbanks around campus for its May 3 graduation. Total Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., snowfall for winter 2013-14 was 135.7 inches - 15-plus inches over normal - which suits most LSSU students, who enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobile seasons that run Nov.-March.
