Posted: May 31st, 2014

SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED – Lake Superior State University engineering lab manager Jon Coullard takes formal delivery of a new Haas VF-2 computer numeric control (CNC) Vertical Machining Center on May 29. Students and faculty will use the VF-2 to master CNC techniques and fabricate specialized parts for industrial clients, many of which are partners with student teams on senior engineering projects. The machine can mill any 30" x 16" x 20" block of metal down to tolerances of 1/10,000 of an inch. Looking on are David Roland Finley, dean of LSSU's College of Business and Engineering, and Eric Becks (with camera), co-director of LSSU's Product Development Center and CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie SmartZone. (LSSU/John Shibley)
