KEEP THOSE BIDS COMING! – Laker mascot Seamore helps LSSU Foundation board member Tony Bosbous run up bids on a football autographed by Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush, during Lake Superior State University’s 25th annual Greater Peninsula Orthopedics Lake State Classic, held May 31-June 1 at Boyne Mountain Resort. Registration, sponsorships, and proceeds from auctions held in conjunction with event receptions raised money for the Laker Club and the Fund for LSSU in support of academic and athletic programs and initiatives at Lake State. SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State University’s 25th annual Greater Peninsula Orthopedics Lake State Golf Classic in support of the Laker Club and the Fund for LSSU was held May 31-June 1 at Boyne Mountain Resort.

The event attracted more than 110 alumni and friends of Lake Superior State, who have raised more than $500,000 in support of the university and its students over the 25-year history of the event.

This year's highlights included a live auction during Saturday night's Classic Bash that featured four tickets for a Detroit Lions-Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field; a Detroit Red Wing hockey jersey signed by Henrik Zetterberg; and Reggie Bush-autographed Detroit Lions football. About 50 items were sold throughout the weekend and, when combined with the proceeds from a raffle, generated $13,000. A $1,500 travel voucher, iPad mini, and $200 cash were given away as raffle prizes.

LSSU Mascot Seamore presented some special silver anniversary awards over the weekend that recognized long-term supporters of the Classic.
