Nursing faculty plumb new simulation center capabilities
Posted: August 23rd, 2014
SIMCENTER SAAVY – Lake Superior State University nursing professor Mary Reynolds-Keegan (left, foreground) and her colleagues monitor an unfolding exercise in the department's new Nursing Skills Simulation Center on Aug. 19. The faculty were training on how to best engage students in using the center's five computer-controlled, wireless mannequins that do things real humans do, including bleed, blink, cry, and even deliver a baby. An adjacent control room lets instructors throw realistic scenarios at student teams working patients in real-time. Run a Web search on "LSSU simulation center" to learn more about LSSU's nursing program and its burgeoning simulation center. (LSSU/John Shibley)
