LSSU Mentoring Program

Interested in being a peer mentor?

Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Attend all mentor trainings and program activities (training is mandatory)
  • Provide peer advising by maintaining weekly contact with mentees through personal meetings, events, email, phone, etc.
  • Be a positive role model
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all university policies and procedures
  • Relate well with others
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn about LSSU
  • Meet regularly with Peer Mentor Coordinator
  • Submit contact logs based on mentor/mentee interactions
  • Must be available to devote a minimum of three hours per week to the program
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Have a good understanding of the mission and programs of the Learning Center
  • Be familiar with campus resources, offices, and departments
  • Possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess a deep appreciation for the diversity of our student body and a commitment to the support and retention of all LSSU students
  • Must be a full time sophomore, junior, or senior student for 2018-2019

Compensation: Student First Mentors will earn $9.25 per hour.
