Dr. Smith helps 4-H kids launch rockets!
Christopher Smith has over 25 years of experience in the classroom. He has been on the faculty at LSSU since 2012. He is a prime example of the quality of an LSSU education. He attended LSSU (at that time, LSSC), receiving a B.S. in Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He went to graduate school at the University of Michigan where he earned an M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering. After working in industry for over four year on electronic counter-measures and Northrop-Grumman and cellular telephone infrastructure at Motorola, he returned to graduate school at the University of Minnesota. receiving a Ph.D. in Computer Science with the thesis “Visually Guided Manipulation of Static and Moving Objects” and has since published over 45 peer-reviewed papers in robotics, computer vision, intelligent transportation systems, and wireless sensor networks.

This was all built upon the solid foundation provided by an LSSU education.

Now, he’s committed to helping the current generation of LSSU students succeed just like his professors at LSSU helped him succeed as a “first-gen” student from Pickford.
