Athletic Training as Preparation for Phyiscal Therapy School
The Athletic Training Education Program at LSSU can be used to meet the pre-requisite requirements for entrance into Physical Therapy School. This can be done with some minor modifications to the student's course of study. In fact, many students have used the Athletic Training Education Program to succeed in Physical Therapy school. Here are some comments from past students:
"My education from Lake Superior State University's Athletic Training Program was a great experience. What I loved was the individuality of the program and that the professors genuinely cared about the students' success. The education fully prepared me for the athletic trainers certification exam and was a great stepping stone for physical therapy school. While in the graduate physical therapy program, I often felt ahead of the curve because of my previous in and out of class experiences at LSSU. I would highly recommend LSSU's athletic training program to anyone wishing to gain a career in physical therapy."

"My undergraduate training at LSSU in the Exercise Science/Sports Medicine program gave me both the knowledge and confidence to excel in graduate physical therapy school. I truly believe that I was better prepared and well ahead of other physical therapy students when it came to orthopedic assessment and hands on clinical skills. My time spent as a student trainer was invaluable in helping me to build a solid foundation in working with patients and communicating with other health care professionals."
