Title: SCT Banner Database Administration
 
Function and Responsibility
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Banner Database Administrator will be responsible for configuration and maintenance of the LSSU Administrative system (Banner/Oracle/Luminis).
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain ERP technologies such as SCT Banner and all interconnected technologies such as, but not limited to, Luminis portal software, payment gateways and connected learning solutions (WebCT).

Installs, configures, and maintains Oracle based technologies, including but not limited to, Oracle Relational Database Management Software, Oracle Developer Forms and Reports, Oracle Internet application Server, Oracle Discoverer and all future subsequent Oracle technologies.

Coordinate physical and logical changes to database systems. Codes, tests, and implements physical database by performing the following duties, which may include but are not limited to the following, Design logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics such as location, amount of space, and access method). Establish physical database parameters. Code database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions. Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database. Ensure the backup and recovery of all databases using various technologies (NetBackup).

Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data. Specifies which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database. Enter codes to create production database. Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory.

Answer user questions. Confer with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems. Modify database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning.
 
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (a total of five years experience), three years of which involve experience in Banner/Oracle Database Administration. Candidate must possess good computer skills; ability to interact and communicate positively with users and external consultants.

SCT Banner (Oracle) DBA Experience
Experience with Oracle Internet Application Server running INB and SSB
Banner/Oracle Installation, configuration and integration experience
Sun Solaris Experience
Performs installations, upgrades and patches to Banner/Oracle systems
Ability to work effectively with end-users, to gain their confidence, understands their technical and operational needs and translates them into viable technical solutions
Superior verbal and written skills, encompassing complete understanding of the English language with exceptional communications skills
Strong organizational skills
Scripting ( Perl, JavaScript, VBScript)
Veritas components (File System, Volume Manager, NetBackup)
Oracle Software Configuration Manager
Oracle Discover
PL/SQL
ProC
Oracle Forms and Reports
Luminis administration
3rd party Banner applications including, Campus Loan Manager (Microsoft SQL Server), XtenderSolutions and Evisions IntelleCheck/FormFusion
Ability to train programmers for DBA operations

Physical and Mental Demands
