Title: Golf Coach
 
Function and Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, to coach the golf teams and handle all facets of that position, including supervision of budget and recruiting.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
Organize, administer, recruit for and coach the golf teams.

Set practice schedules, work with the Director of Athletics and Building Manager to secure practice times, ordering of equipment and produce programs at the NCAA Division II level capable of competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Identify, observe, analyze and recruit student athletes for the program.

Responsible for planning and instituting fund-raising efforts to help supplement the team's budget. Expected to take part in campus and community activities as deemed appropriate by the Director of Athletics.

Maintain strong ties with Laker golf alumni, and attempt to build a relationship with alumni, and members of the local golf community.

Attend GLIAC golf meetings, coordinate a schedule with the other golf coaches in the GLIAC, and be responsible for maintaining the golf program at LSSU to assure that it meets the minimum standards for competition in both the NCAA and GLIAC.

Perform related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred and one or two years of golf coaching experience. Thorough knowledge of institution, NCAA and GLIAC rules. Thorough knowledge of the rules of golf. Must be able to successfully pass the NCAA coaching certification test annually. Should have good knowledge of recruiting techniques and high school golf system in state of Michigan.

 
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate health and fitness to maintain practice sessions and to travel with the team. Must be able to drive LSSU vehicles for practices and meets, to assure that the team arrives safely for all scheduled activities. Must have gross motor skills to teach and train, and to perform promotional activities. Must have the ability to hear, see, speak clearly, with or without aid, to participate in training, recruiting, fundraising and promotional activities.
