Title: Assistant Director
 
Function and Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, assist with student recruitment and fulfill the duties normally assigned to professional members of the admissions staff.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and facilitate the region of the EUP (Eastern Upper Peninsula) for the purposes of recruitment and enrollment of students; conduct on-site admissions programs at EUP high schools
Present to a variety of student, parent, and faculty/staff audiences, including both internal and external constituents
Coordinate publication efforts, including promotional literature, applications, and student guides; coordinate local radio advertising campaign
Serve as Advisor to International Students
Administer Certificates of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant (F-1) Student Status (I-20) to entering International Students; serve as Designated School Officials for SEVIS (Student Exchange and Visitor Information System)
Co-develop annual schedule of recruitment events and coordinate participation of faculty, students, and staff in recruitment efforts; co-coordinate recruitment planning and travel for professional staff
Coordinate EUP College Fair as host to over 30 colleges and universities
Coordinate annual Fall Fling open house program, which hosts over 300 students plus parents and features faculty and staff presentations, campus tours, and student-lead activities.
Coordinate “Meet LSSU” and “Build Your Laker Connection” programs, off-campus events at various locations throughout MI featuring opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to interact with prospective students and families

Coordinate hiring and scheduling of student support staff

Responsible for operation of the Admissions Office in Director’s absence

Perform related duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with excellent written and oral communication skills required. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage complex detailed projects required. Demonstrated aptitude and knowledge of computer-based word processing and complex computer software systems plus at least 3 years of previous experience in admissions preferred. Must possess a valid operator’s license, have a satisfactory driving record, and be available to travel extensively.
 
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational duties; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks.
