Our missions is to provides wellness and healthy lifestyle oriented programs, events, and services to the Lake Superior State University and surrounding EUP communities through our program areas including Aquatics, Fitness/Wellness, Intramural Sports, Climbing Wall and Regional Outdoor Center.

Student Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representative serves as primary point of contact for the Norris Center and is responsible for the daily front desk & Student Activity Center operations. Candidates must be able to demonstrate effective decision-making and critical thinking skills to ensure the best customer service and safety for patrons. Individuals must be friendly and have a working knowledge about facilities and services provided to members. Individuals must take pride in the quality of their work by demonstrating effective communication and initiative. Individuals must also be able to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence while representing the Norris Center. Collaboration and ability to work closely with others is required for success in this position.

Student Aquatics Instructor

Student Aquatics Instructors are responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons while instructing dynamic, safe and constructive classes.  Student Aquatics Instructors are responsible for creating a routine to follow to instruct water aerobics and swim lessons with resources provided. Water aerobics classes are aimed at senior citizens; must be patient and able to project voice loudly to lead class. The Aquatics Instructors are not required to get into the water to instruct. Aquatics Instructors must be willing to get into the pool to teach swim lessons to youth of varying levels. Maintain a high level of motivation and control in classes while exhibiting friendly, kind, energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic energy. A knowledge of aquatic classes is beneficial.

Student Lifeguard

Student lifeguards are responsible for ensuring that the facility is safe for patron use by preventing and promptly responding to emergencies. Must enforce the pool policies and procedures; additional duties may include but are not limited to assisting with special events, swim lessons, water aerobics class instruction and cleaning the pool. A general knowledge of pools & strong swimming background is required. A current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is not required to apply; Lake Superior State University will provide certification class.

Student Fitness Instructor

Student Fitness Instructors are responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons while instructing and leading dynamic, safe and constructive classes.  Student Fitness Instructors are responsible for planning and picking out classes with software and resources provided.  Fitness Instructors must be willing to participate while instructing classes of varying levels. Maintain a high level of motivation and control in classes while exhibiting friendly, kind, energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic energy. A knowledge of aerobic and anaerobic fitness is beneficial.

Student Intramural Sports Official
