Am I on the list to graduate?

If you have received a Degree Audit Verification from the Registrar’s Office, your name will be on the Candidates for Graduation List. Please also check the Candidates for Graduation information available on the Commencement web page.

Will I be listed in the program?

If you are on the Candidates for Graduation List, you will be in the program. To ensure your name is listed in the program, the Registrar’s Office should have received your Graduation Application prior to the first week in April. Please also watch your email for emails from the Registrar’s Office regarding notifications and deadlines.

How many guests may I bring?

There is no limit on the number of guests you can invite to the commencement exercises. Special seating for handicap and elderly will be available on the main floor behind the graduates.

Where do I get my cap and gown?

Graduation attire may be purchased from the LSSU Bookstore at Lake Superior State University (906-635-2227). Bachelor attire is royal blue, and associate attire is gold. Check out the Grad Fair page for more information!

When is practice?

We ask that you plan to attend the Commencement practice at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 26th in the Cooper Gym. It lasts about 1 1/2 hours.

When do I need to show up for Commencement?

Please arrive between 10-10:30 a.m. on April 27th in the Cooper Gym. Commencement begins promptly at 11 a.m.

Is a professional photographer available?

An individual picture of you receiving your diploma and a “celebration” photo as you depart the stage will be taken by a professional photographer and may be purchased from them directly, if desired. Personal photography will also be allowed during the ceremony. Those wishing to take photos should wait until you are in line to approach the stage before coming forward to take your picture.

What Commencement Accessories can be worn?

Students can wear the following commencement accessories:

Cords – Students may wear as many cords as have been awarded – no limit.
Medallions – Medallions will only be worn by students earning Summa Cum Laude.
Stoles – Students may wear a single stole.
