Prof. Spencer Christensen directed boom, the play by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb with a cast of LSSU theatre students in February 2017 at the Arts Center. Lake Superior State University student actors Michael Oakes (as ‘Jules,’ plaid, left) and Tomantha Sylvester (as ‘Barbara,’ right, at drums) launch into a Feb 14 dress rehearsal of the off beat comedy boom. For each production, fifty-five audience members joined actors up on the LSSU Arts Center Main stage. Oakes (from Corunna, Mich.) is a Fine Arts Studies major with concentrations in theatre, writing, and web design and management. Sylvester (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) is in General Studies with concentrations in business and fine art. Not pictured is student actress Paige King (Oakley, Mich.; General Studies, theater/fine art), who portrayed ‘Jo.’ (LSSU/John Shibley)
