Redefining the Classroom

Foundation Phonathon breezes through halfway point

Posted: February 17th, 2011

SEVENTH-INNING STRETCH - Lake Superior State University students working the LSSU Foundation Phonathon break for some home cooking, courtesy of LSSU President Tony McLain and his wife Melissa (both serving). The McLains brought dinner on Feb. 15 to Lukenda Alumni House, which is where the annual telephone fundraiser to LSSU alumni and friends takes place. The students, here in gray Call Team t-shirts, hope to eclipse last year's $31,000 benchmark by the end of March. Callers are, foreground from left to right, Samantha Periard (Birch Run, Mich.); Eric Brown (St. Ignace, Mich.); Elizabeth Johnson (Tampa, Fla.); Brooke Hunt (Southfield, Mich.); and Jake Hoover (Capac, Mich.). In the back are Tom Coates, executive director of LSSU's Foundation Office, and Tracy Hammond, Foundation's development assistant. If you are interested in supporting the Fund for LSSU or other projects at Lake State, contact the LSSU Foundation at 906/635-2665 or email Or make a contribution through the LSSU Foundation online giving form.
