Investment Club takes a bite out of the Big Apple

BULLISH BIG APPLE – Members of LSSU's Investment Club pose with the iconic Bull of Wall Street during a recent competition in New Your City attended under the auspices of faculty advisor and accounting professor Gerald Root. The club took second place in the core style portfolio undergraduate division during the Global Asset Management Education II Forum, beating out 98 other undergraduate and graduate teams from schools from all over the U.S. and world. Outgoing investment club president Michael Barrett and 2012-13 President Nathan Stump, along with Ramsey A'Ve, formally reported on the club's student-run investment portfolio to a panel of Wall Street investors. The team sufficiently impressed the panel to garner honors for fund and reporting performance. As a special treat, a colleague of Root's who works for JP Morgan took club members onto the company's bond trading floor just prior to a day's opening. Root is looking forward to the group's participation in this winter's forum. Pictured in the first row left to right (with home towns) are Nathan Raboin (Vulcan, Mich.), Nathan Stump (Williamston, Mich.), Andrew Althaus (Temperance, Mich.), and Prof. Gerald Root. In the second row, from left, is Vishnu Chander (Sault Ste Marie, Mich.), Michael Barrett (Sault Ste Marie, Mich.), Ricco Righetti (East Tawas, Mich.), Andrew Knoch (Gladstone, Mich.), Matt McKinley (Sault Ste Marie, Mich.), Nicole Stratelak (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), and Ramsey A've (Detroit, Mich.).
