SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State University Dance Company invites anyone wishing to work on its spring production -- from dancers to set designers -- to come to an audition from 8-10:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, in the Arts Center dance studio, room 209.
The production, "Fractured Fairy Tales – Three tales with a twist," will be performed April 12-14.
Prof. Deborah Choszczyk, director of LSSU's dance program, said there are roles for male and female dancers, some with minimal dancing experience, actors, as well as tech support for hair, make-up, scene design and construction, lighting, music composition, costuming, and props. Musicians and a stage manager are needed, also.
"If you are interested in the production, please attend the audition," Choszczyk said.
Auditions will be held as follows:
For dancers: ballet barre and center floor work in modern. Dancers will be asked to present characters through dance and improv mime.
For dancers with minimal dance experience: Audition includes movement/dance combinations center floor with character emphasis – choreographed and improv.
Audition for actors: Actors will be asked to present characters through movement.
All dancers and actors will be asked to complete an availability schedule. Rehearsals will be determined from that. On-stage rehearsals are set for March 25-28 and tech/dress rehearsals are April 1-4 and 8-11.
For more information, contact Choszczyk at firstname.lastname@example.org or 635-2265. Character sketches are posted in the dance studio, or may be requested via e-mail.
