STAYIN' ALIVE – Radiology students Yijia Zhou (center) and Manwei Luo (right) practice CPR techniques during a visit to Lake Superior State University's Nursing Simulation Center on Aug. 6. Seven medical and nursing students from Shaoxing University, LSSU's partner university in China, are in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., until Aug. 15 for a summer program that offers glimpses into American health services and culture. Coming exchanges will involve more students and faculty from both universities in different academic disciplines. LSSU professors Russell Searight and Ralf Wilhelms recently concluded stints as guest lecturers, respectively, in psychology and business. Shaoxing University, located 120 miles south of Shanghai on China's coast - is a four-year university with 23,000 full-time students enrolled in the arts, natural sciences, engineering, medical science, law, education, economics, and management. This is Shaoxing University's first summer visit. Incidentally, Zhou and Luo were keeping proper CPR rhythm by humming the 1970s disco pop-song, "Staying Alive." (LSSU/John Shibley)
