Purpose and Function

  1. To provide cultural, social, and academic support for Indigenous students who attend Lake Superior State University.
  2. To increase Indigenous student participation in all aspects of the University.
  3. To provide leadership, direction, resources, and encouragement for the Indigenous students at LSSU.
  4. To consult with Indigenous students on issues of concern and resolution.
  5. To assist Indigenous students with adjusting to the University environment.
  6. To acknowledge and respect the language, culture, and social diversity of all Indigenous students.
  7. To strengthen cultural competence between Indigenous students and non-Indigenous students.
  8. To hold meetings, and organize fundraising and social functions for students.
  9. To provide support and space to incoming and current Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
  10. To promote unity and diversity on the Lake Superior State University campus.
  11. To collaborate with other student organizations and other community service organizations.
