Lake Superior State University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for overseeing research and teaching activities involving nonhuman vertebrate animals within the institution including all facilities owned by Lake Superior State University.The Committee reviews all animal use protocols and oversees animal care and use through regular inspections of the facilities and program review.
The Resources page provides all informational and required forms needed to obtain permission to use animals in research and teaching at LSSU including Animal Use proposals for Laboratory Animal Research, Observational Wildlife Studies, Wildlife Field Studies, Training Requirements, and Supplemental information forms needed for proposals are also found on this page and include: Disease or Pathologic Condition, Survival Surgery, Dietary Manipulation, Hazardous Materials, and Immunization Procedures.
The Contact page gives more detail about the IACUC and how we serve our community. There is also a comment form on this page where you can submit complaints or concerns you might have about animal research within LSSU’s IACUC oversight. These submissions are important to keeping all animals safe under LSSU’s care. They are read carefully and acted upon as soon as possible. This form also allows you the option to remain anonymous.
