The Provost is the chief academic officer of the university. In addition to oversight of Academic Affairs through the Provost Council, the Provost oversees the Registrar’s Office, Shouldice Library, Charter Schools, Regional Centers, Technology Services and Sponsored Programs. Dr. Finley was appointed as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in January 2016, he continues to serve as Dean for the Division of Professional Studies and Outreach, which include the Lukenda School of Business, the School of Engineering and Technology, and the School of Criminal Justice.

Assessment of the total student learning experience at Lake Superior State University encompasses the aspects of both academics and operational support.

The Office of the President serves as liaison to the LSSU Board of Trustees, and oversees the development of the University mission, vision, and strategic planning.

LSSU sponsored Charter Schools are public schools, operating in much the same way as traditional public schools. They are free, open to all, and operate under the direction of a publicly-appointed board of directors.

The LSSU ombudsman assists students in resolving student conflicts or disputes within the university in a neutral, impartial, confidential, informal and independent manner.

Lake Superior State University maintains ongoing institutional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission.

The Lake Superior State University Strategic Plan guides the institutions efforts in fulfillment of our mission to help all students to reach their full potential.
