LSSU Theatre Presents

Rights Given, Rights Taken: Stories of Equality is an original theatrical collaboration between Professors Elizabeth Parks and Thomas Meacham and LSSU students. Merging filmed and live performance, this play celebrates the year of the woman and centers around issues of gender equality. Through rousing suffragette speeches and stories of equality from Boccacioโs The Decameron, this play asks the following questions: โAre women equal to men?โ โWhat does it mean to be heard?โ and โWhat is it to share your story in public?โ This one of a kind production, featuring the writing and acting of Lake State students, is part comedy, part tragedy, and entirely captivating.ย
