Recent Productions

In the pre-coronavirus weeks of spring semester 2020 Professor Elizabeth Parks directed and produced The Bridge, a one person play about the founding of the first hotline for domestic violence victims in Russia.

When the university moved to all virtual instruction in March 2020, Dr. Thomas Meacham had a cast well into rehearsal for a production of The Importance of Being Earnest. The cast used Zoom to record delightful highlights of the play and complete the production experience. Their efforts can be viewed at https://www.lssu.edu/arts-center/the-importance-of-being-earnest/.

The Fall 2020 theater production was a collaborative devised work. Both Professors Meacham and Parks worked with students to create a play they titled Rights Given, Rights Taken:  Stories of Equality to honor the year of the woman and the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, which extended the right to vote to women. The writing of the script and production of the play was a great collaborative effort between the students and theatre faculty members.
