Asamajororminorincreativewriting,you’llbepartofanintimateprogramwithenthusiasticfaculty.Wegiveundergraduatestudentsopportunitiestogetpublishingexperiencebeforegraduation.Unlikelargerprogramswhereyourworkmaybelostinlargeworkshopclasses,ourfacultyareexcitedtoworkone-on-onewithundergraduatestudents.Toencourageinnovationandexperimentationasstudentsdeveloptheirvoices,allmajorscompletecourseworkinprose,poetry,andperformancewriting.Ajuniorcourseletsstudentsrefinetheirvoicesandpracticetheircraftintheirpreferredgenreinaclasswheretheywillgetfeedbackfromstudentsofmultiplegenres.SeniorstaketheCreativeWritingPortfoliocourse,acapstoneclassinwhichstudentswriteaunifiedcollectionofpublication-readyworkintheirpreferredgenre,workingwiththeinstructoroftheirchoiceonanindependentstudybasis.StudentpublicationisencouragedinSnowdrifts,anannualpublicationproducedbycreativewritingstudents.YoucanalsogetinvolvedinpublicationproductionthroughourinternshipswithBorderCrossing,LSSU’steachingjournal.
