LSSU’s regional centers and locations are committed to providing Northern Michigan-area residents educational opportunities for intellectual, personal, and professional growth.
LSSU offers a student-oriented approach to higher education. Our small class size, experienced faculty, and nearby sites are what the LSSU regional centers and locations are all about. We are here for you.
We are proud of the high-quality instruction and personal attention we provide; they’re hallmarks of the Lake Superior State University experience.
For assistance in planning your educational goals, stop by our offices in Escanaba or Petoskey; schedule an appointment with our regional center director; or request information online. We can help answer questions about admissions requirements, scholarships/financial aid, counseling, course selection, and registration for classes.
You can complete your degree or certificate without traveling to LSSU’s campus in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Courses are offered at our regional centers in Escanaba and Petoskey. Confer with your coordinator to determine if there are any Soo-campus class requirements for your program.
You can begin a bachelor’s degree if you have earned 56 credits or an associate degree. We recommend that you first complete at least 56 credit hours and obtain the MTA stamp (indicating your general education courses have been satisfied at the degree-granting institution). Most certificate programs do not require transfer of credits from previous institutions.
If you have an associate degree, you can typically earn a bachelor’s degree in two or three years by taking two classes per semester (including summers)
Classes for bachelor’s degree programs are offered in a variety of formats (in person, online, Zoom, blended), depending on the program.
Faculty members for degree programs have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in their field. Their classroom and career experience enhances program instruction. Both full-time LSSU faculty and adjunct professors provide high-quality education to our students.
Our staff at the LSSU Regional Centers and Locations are available to assist with educational planning, scheduling, obtaining resources, and other topics. We make it as easy as possible for you to earn your degree or certificate!
The Academic Success Center provides free academic support (such as tutoring and mentoring) to all registered Lake State students. Visit https://www.lssu.edu/academics/academic-services/academic-success-center/ for more info!
Services are arranged with the assistance of the staff at our regional centers and locations. They can help with providing extended testing time, proctoring in alternative sites, obtaining alternative format for textbooks and exams, and more. Disability Services also serve as the facilitator between students, faculty, and regional center and location staff.
