COVID-19 Information & Safety Guidelines

Lake Superior State University’s COVID-19 response aligns with federal, state, and local health official recommendations and requirements. The University has rapid PCR tests available to students, employees, and the public by appointment at the LSSU Health Care Center – (906) 635-2110. LSSU also conducts wastewater surveillance testing through a grant from Michigan Department of Health & Human Services. Results of wastewater testing help local and state officials monitor the prevalence of COVID-19 on-campus and throughout the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

We encourage all Lakers and Laker families to seek COVID-19 vaccination and boosters, as recommended. Vaccines are widely available throughout the United States. Find a vaccination location near you.

The following four guidelines are the foundation for the continued safety and wellbeing of our university and surrounding community. Please do your part to adhere to these guidelines.

Mask/Face Covering

Although masks are not required in most settings, many may choose to continue wearing a mask for health or other personal reasons and will be supported by the Laker community. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status in all health facilities—including the LSSU Health Care Center.

Hand Hygiene

Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds multiple times each day or use hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol. Good hand hygiene remains an important strategy to keeping our Laker community healthy.

Personal/Social Responsibility

Actively encourage those around you to adhere to these guidelines while doing so yourself. Remember, we all have a role to play in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
