Pre-Professional Sciences at LSSU

Overview

The Pre-Professional Associate’s degree provides foundational science courses for students wishing to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic care, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, or physician assistantship.  It is designed especially for students who did not or are not pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Biology or Chemistry, (either because they majored in some other discipline, or because they plan to apply to a graduate program that does not require applicants to have a bachelor’s degree).  It contains basic minimum science prerequisites required by most health-related professional programs.  With the addition of biochemistry (CHEM 351) and upper-level electives tailored to the specific program of their choice, these students can meet the basic science expectations of the graduate programs they apply to.
