CAEP Accreditation Reporting

  • Effectiveness ratings provided by public school administrators in Michigan for 2024 present educators hired since 2014. The most recent report from MDE indicated that of the 76 completers hired since 2014, 28 (37%) were rated as highly effective, 47 (62%) were rated as effective, and one (1%) was rated as minimally effective. Thus, of completers rated, 99% were rated as effective or highly effective.
  • The Michigan Department of Education provides an aggregated summary of their student teacher surveys, which are completed by the student teacher, university supervisor, and cooperating teacher. The data for 2021-2022, , 2023-24, and 2024-25 student teachers is below:

Caep Reporting

  • All completers over the past three years were retained in the same position for their second school year as a teacher.
  • The case study, which is underway, includes an interview with the principal of each completer studied. Early data is available.

Our candidates must successfully pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification(MTTC) to become a certified teacher.

MTTC Subject Area Results with Interpretive Notes and Cautions (2022-2025)

2022 to Present MTTC Subject Test Scores

MTTC Results Notes:

  • Most subject areas (9 of 15) show 100% pass rates, indicating strong performance.
  • Upper Elementary Subtests show lower performance overall—3 of the 4 subtests are below 80%.
  • Integrated Science and Upper Elem. Subtest 2 have the lowest pass rates and may warrant targeted support or review of curriculum alignment.
  • A word of caution: The candidates for whom results are presented in this document may not reflect the same proportion of all the types and capabilities of candidates in the population who take the tests in the future. Additionally, extreme caution should be used in interpreting data for small sample sizes (<10) as such data may not provide a valid indication of how candidates typically perform.
Impact on Student Learning
  • The Student Teacher Observation Tool (STOT) is the quantitative tool used for the final student teaching report. On the STOT scale, 3.0 is proficient and 2.0 is emerging. Our goal is for every candidate to be at a proficient level at the end of student teaching. The 2021-2022 completers averaged 3.03 with nearly every student teacher scoring 2.8 or higher as an average for the ten STOT standards. The 2024-25 completers in Fall 2024 averaged 3.35 and the completers in Spring 2025 averaged 3.51.
  • Action research projects are completed during student teaching. For the 2021-2022 academic year, ten student teachers completed action research projects that demonstrated an impact on student learning and development. The presentations of the action research projects at the end of student teaching indicate that as completers the candidates will positively impact P-12 learning and development.
  • Action research projects are completed during student teaching. For the 2024-2025 academic year, 25 student teachers completed action research projects. The presentations of the action research projects at the end of student teaching indicate that as completers the candidates will positively impact P-12 learning and development.
  • There were eleven completers in 2021-2022 and we have received confirmation that six are currently employed in a teaching position as of Spring 2023. This is not a final number and this section will be updated as our records are updated. Typically, the employment for graduates has been 100% for those who choose to pursue a teaching career; we have no indication that this pattern has changed.
