Due to the emerald ash borer infestation throughout the state and northern Ontario, LSSU is losing all of the ash trees on campus. The Activities Board is working with LSSU Physical Plant to help keep the campus beautiful. Come help us plant some trees to replace those that we've lost!

Mackinac Bridge Walk

Take part in the annual Michigan tradition of the Mackinac Bridge Walk! Join us at the bridge on the St. Ignace side. Students: buses leave at 6 a.m. in front of the Walker Cisler Center. Limited space available, and bus rides to the bridge are available to LSSU students only, although everyone is invited to join the LSSU crew at the Bridge.

Deadline for Employee Tuition Discount Forms

A reminder to employees who are taking classes this fall, or whose family members are taking classes this fall: The 2014 fall semester employee applications for tuition waiver and dependent applications for tuition discount are due. All applications must be received in Human Resources by the end of the add/drop period today. Applications received after this date cannot be processed for the fall semester. The forms you'll need to process are at http://www.lssu.edu/hr/printableforms.php under "benefits."

This 1938 Pulitizer Prize-winning drama follows the small town of Grover's Corners through three acts. The play requires many actors -- there are multiple roles of all sizes for both men and women. Rehearsals feature flexible scheduling. No experience is necessary, and no preparation is required. Additionally, participating cast or crew members may earn one credit through THEA 161.

Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts Training

Deadline to Register for Hiking Trip to Seney NWR

The LSSU Regional Outdoor Center invites all students to its first hike of the season. The group is headed to Seney National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, Sept. 6. If you want to go, you must attend a meeting tonight. The trip includes an interpretive day hike and ride through the Marshland Wildlife Drive, a seven-mile driving trail that winds through the eastern edge of the refuge. Students will have a chance to see a variety of wildlife, including migrating songbirds, waterfowl and sandhill cranes. The 95,000-acre refuge is one of the few places where trumpeter swans nest in Michigan, and it is also home to deer, bear and moose. The trip is just $5. To reserve your spot, sign up at the ROC, which is adjacent to the Shouldice Library and South Hall on the southeast side of campus.
