Laker Ready
In partnership with Barnes and Noble, LSSU’s bookstore automatically provides all undergraduate students with their required course materials at a low, flat-rate price each semester through the Laker Ready program. This includes all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital textbooks. The program is designed to lower costs and increase access to required materials for students before the first day of classes.
Each semester, the Laker Ready program allows students to access their required course materials for a flat $30 per-credit-hour fee, regardless of how much each individual textbook or digital access would cost to rent or purchase separately.
- Receive all your materials before the first day of class
- Save 35-50% on the cost of materials each term
- Benefit from highly personalized service from our on-campus bookstore staff
HOW IT WORKS
Register for classes
After registering for your courses, the bookstore will begin preparing your course materials. Before the start of a new semester, you will be sent a series of emails allowing you to select your fulfillment preference (pick-up or delivery) and be notified when your materials are ready. If you do not want to participate in the Laker Ready course materials program for Fall 2026, you must opt-out of the program by August 31 to avoid being charged the $30 per-credit hour fee. See opt-out link below.
Verify your order
Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference (in-store pickup or direct ship-to-home).
Receive your textbooks
An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered through the LMS platform.
Opt Out / Opt In
We encourage students to enjoy deeply discounted and guaranteed course material for the first day of class. We also understand this program may not meet the needs of every student. If you do not wish to participate in the Laker Ready program, you will need to opt-out every semester. You can opt-out beginning 30 days before classes starts through the sixth day of each semester.
FAQs
As part of Barnes and Noble’s First Day Complete program, the Laker Ready initiative is a course material model that lowers the cost of materials for students and ensures students have access to all of their required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this new program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within the campus LMS. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return their physical course materials to the bookstore.

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.
Students will receive emails from the bookstore reminding them to verify their order. If the student does not opt-out, physical materials will be held at the bookstore, digital materials will be available within the course on Moodle, and the student account will be charged.
If you have received your Laker Ready packaged course materials, you must return any textbooks for the dropped course to the bookstore within 48 hours. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/digital materials so that you have what you need.
