Orientation is required for all new students (freshman, transfers and non-traditional) attending our Sault Ste. Marie campus.
Orientation dates for the summer are as follows:
Friday, May 16 (transfer students only)
Saturday, May 17
Thursday, June 26 (transfer students only)
Friday, June 27
Friday, July 11
Friday, July 25
These programs are for students who are admitted for and plan to attend LSSU during the Summer or Fall Semester 2008.
During orientation you will:
- Learn important policies and procedures that will help you succeed in your academic career.
- Learn about the numerous university services that are available to you as an LSSU student.
- Meet with an academic advisor and register for your summer and/or fall semester classes.
- Have your picture taken and receive your Laker ID card.
- Register your vehicle and receive your parking permit (if applicable).
Placement Exams
Your course placement in English and mathematics will be determined by your ACT/SAT scores, unless you have transfer credit for these content areas. View Course Placement Chart
LSSU uses the COMPASS® testing instrument for placement exams. COMPASS® exams are available at numerous community colleges and universities, if you are interested in taking the exams closer to home, contact Testing Services for detailed information and a location near you.

It is strongly recommended that all exams be completed PRIOR to orientation.
