Theory to practice
As with our other programs, we prepare our students for entering the work force. Each student will develop comprehensive unit plans as part of one of their courses. The unit plans cover such areas as:
Accounting
Computer Software
Keyboarding
Office Skills
Economics
Career Planning
These unit plans include learning objectives, assessment plans, assignments, grading rubrics, and daily learning activities. Students then prepare a daily lesson plan where they integrate each aspect of the unit plan and practice "teaching" the lesson.
During the Summer, we offer a unique week long course for our Advanced Technology Academy students. As part of the curriculum, our LSSU students assist in organizing and teaching the Ford PAS Wealth of Nations course. This year Professors Linda Schmitigal and Brian Zinser mentor business student Michael
Stancetti and former student Candace Wade.
Personal education...
Caroline Demary-Elliott
"Not only is LSSU close and convenient to my home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, but the atmosphere is very welcoming. All of the staff and students seem to be really open, and the teacher-to-student ratio is very personal, unlike larger universities. " [ more ]
