The Academic Success Center provides free individual and small-group tutoring for many 100- and 200-level courses. Our goal is to help students master challenging course material in a welcoming, personalized, and technologically supported environment.
Tutoring focuses not only on course content but also on the skills that contribute to long-term academic success. Tutors work collaboratively with students to strengthen study habits, note-taking, test preparation, time management, organization, and other effective learning strategies. Rather than completing work for students, tutors ask questions, explain concepts, and guide students as they develop confidence and academic independence.
ASC tutors are successful LSSU students who have demonstrated strong academic performance in the subjects they tutor and have been recommended by faculty members. If a tutor is not currently available for a requested course, the ASC will make every effort to locate a tutor or connect the student with another helpful form of academic support.

We are excited to help you with your academic needs. All tutoring appointments are scheduled through LSSU Brainfuse. To ensure a productive tutoring session, please follow the instructions below:
- Log in to your LSSU 24/7 online tutoring account with your My.LSSU username and password: https://landing.brainfuse.com/saml.asp?oauth_consumer_key=43441FD0
- To schedule a tutoring session with an LSSU tutor, select “Tutor Match.“
- Select the Topic and Subject you need help with.
- Choose the tutor that works best for you.
- Schedule a session at your preferred time.

- Communicating with your Tutor
- Be respectful and actively engage in the session. Remember that the tutor’s job is to assist you by answering questions and explaining concepts that you bring to the session!
- Clearly explain the areas you need help with or the questions you have.
- Ask for clarification if you don’t understand something the tutor explains.
- Participate in discussions and ask questions to enhance your understanding.
- Using the Interactive Whiteboard in virtual sessions
- The tutor may use an interactive whiteboard to explain concepts visually.
- Follow the tutor’s instructions on using the whiteboard tools (drawing, highlighting, typing, etc.).
- Feel free to interact with the whiteboard by adding your own notes or annotations.
- Reviewing Concepts
- If the tutor covers a lot of material during the session, ask for a quick summary or recap to ensure you grasp the key concepts.
- Take notes during the session for future reference and review.
- Wrapping up the Session
- Toward the end of the session, summarize what you’ve learned and ensure you understand the main points.
- Ask the tutor for additional practice exercises or resources to reinforce your understanding.
- Provide feedback on the session if prompted.
- Post-Session Review:
- After the session, review your notes and any additional resources provided.
- Attempt the practice exercises or problems discussed during the session.
- If you have further questions, consider scheduling another tutoring session.
