Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center provides free academic support (such as tutoring and mentoring) to all registered Lake State students.
LSSU’s regional centers and locations are committed to providing Northern Michigan-area residents educational opportunities for intellectual, personal, and professional growth.
LSSU offers a student-oriented approach to higher education. Our small class size, experienced faculty, and nearby sites are what the LSSU regional centers and locations are all about. We are here for you.
We are proud of the high-quality instruction and personal attention we provide; they’re hallmarks of the Lake Superior State University experience.
For assistance in planning your educational goals email [email protected] to schedule a meeting or request information online. We can help answer questions about admissions requirements, scholarships/financial aid, counseling, course selection, and registration for classes.
Complete your degree or certificate close to home - without traveling to LSSU’s main campus in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Courses are offered at regional centers in Escanaba, Iron Mountain, and Petoskey. Check with your regional director regarding any program-specific main campus requirements. LSSU also offers an in-person, cohort-based learning model at the Chippewa Correctional Facility.
You can begin a bachelor’s degree after earning at least 56 transferable credits or completing an associate degree. We strongly recommend earning the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement first, which indicates that your general education requirements have been satisfied at the degree-granting institution. Most certificate programs do not require prior transfer credit.
Students who transfer with an associate degree can typically complete a bachelor’s degree in 2–3 years, depending on their program and whether they attend full time or part time. Taking two courses per semester is a common path for working adults.
Bachelor’s degree courses are offered in a variety of formats - including in-person, online, virtual, and blended modalities. Available delivery methods vary by program and course.
Learn from experienced educators and professionals. LSSU faculty and adjunct instructors bring advanced credentials, real-world expertise, and a commitment to student success in every course.
Our Regional Center staff are here to help every step of the way - from educational planning and course scheduling to connecting you with campus resources and services. We are committed to making your path to a degree or certificate as smooth and convenient as possible.
