High School Summer Camps
Aquatic Ecology and Fisheries Camp
August 4th-8th, 2025
- Entering grades 9th-12th
- Develop skills in capturing, identifying, and comparing aquatic animal communities in our lakes and rivers. Gain experience using basic aquatic ecology and fisheries research, sampling techniques, and equipment, including fyke nets, seines, D-nets, and water quality meters. Learn the basics of aquatic science with fish and aquatic invertebrate identification and lab experiments. Overnight and commuter options available. For entering 9th–12th grades.
Criminal Justice, Fire Science, and Emergency Services Camp
July 7-11th, 2025
- Entering grades 9th-12th
- Learn about forensic photography with identification, collection of evidence, finger printing and other evidence processing. Explore the ballistics and firearms used in law enforcement, experience real-life scenario weapon simulators, and participate in accident investigation and reconstruction, homeland security field trips, and self-defense for law enforcement officers. Fire science instruction will include basic hands-on training in search and rescue, water evolutions, rapid intervention team training, ventilation, and forcible entry. For entering 9th – 12th grades.
Engineering and Robotics Camp
July 14th–16th, 2025
- Entering grades 8th-12th
- Campers use industrial robots, mobile robots, rocketry, GPS, and 3D printing. Activities include extensive lab time with LSSU engineering faculty and staff and camp counselors and working with state-of-the-art equipment. Our hands-on approach and interactive demonstrations create an engaging, fun, and cutting-edge experience. Overnight or commuter options available. For entering 9th–12th grades.
- LSSU houses one of the most modern technological educational facilities and one of the best multimillion-dollar robotics labs in the U.S. Our site was recognized by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET as one of the most complete and advanced of its kind in the nation.
Important Camp Information
All entrance and service fees are included in the registration fee. Meals are provided for overnight campers. Lunch is provided for commuter day-only campers. Students should pack sunscreen, bug spray, and personal toiletries. A schedule of events will be provided prior to the camp’s start date.
Camp LSSU counselors are first aid-certified, trained in “Stop the Bleed,” and lifeguard certified.
Code of Conduct / Cancellation Policy
Lake Superior State University reserves the right to terminate the stay of any student, without refund, when it is deemed to be in the best interest of either the student or the program.
Full refunds will be issued for any camp cancelled by LSSU because of low enrollment. Refunds will be issued minus the $150 non-refundable deposit for any camp cancelled by a participant two weeks prior to the camp start date the participant is enrolled in.
