Norris Events Center Building Rules

  • All activities cease at closing.

  • Loud, profane, and or abusive language and/or music is prohibited.
  • All emergencies and injuries must be reported to a Norris Center staff member or Public
    Safety at (906)635-2100.
  • Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or
    guardian in all areas of the building.
  • Sports equipment to be used only in designated areas
  • No smoking in the building or near entrances
  • No bikes, skateboards, roller skates or rollerblades are allowed to be used within the
    building.
  • LSSU is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Failure to comply with the rules listed may be cause for dismissal, suspension or loss of membership.

Dress Code and Facility Specific Rules

  • Users must present an ID and be confirmed to use the facility
  • Track members only on track equipment unless permission is given by Track coaches
    and Coordinator of Norris Center Operations.
  • Only members and guests aged 16 years or older may use the fitness equipment.
    Members and guests 14 or 15 years of age may use fitness equipment when
    accompanied and within arms reach of a guardian.
  • Users must wipe down all equipment after each use and re-rack any weights used.
  • No weights outside of the weight area or brought out onto the track.
  • No personal equipment allowed
  • Do not drop weights on the floor or slam plates on machines.
  • Alert Norris Center Staff of damaged equipment or improper use of equipment
  • Track is for walking/running only
  • Walk/Run in the proper designated direction
  • Be aware of “blind corners” when curtains are down

  • Users shall abide by the dress code set forth by Norris Events Center.
  • Closed toed, clean, athletic shoes must be worn in the Athletic or Fitness spaces.
    Barefeet are only permitted in locker rooms and Natatorium
  • T-shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times with the exception of locker rooms and
    Natatorium.
  • Clothing displaying inappropriate designs or offensive language are not permitted.
  • Users must present an ID and be confirmed to use the facility.
  • Proper swim attire is required to enter the pool.
  • Users must walk at all times on the pool deck.
  • Food, gum, and glass containers are prohibited.
  • Users aged 15 years and under must be supervised by an individual 18 or older.
  • All users must shower before entering the pool.
  • Users must appropriately enter the pool. No jumping or diving in shallow areas.
  • Lap lanes are reserved for continued swimming.
  • Circle swimming may be required during busy periods.
  • No photography, video, or phone calls in the pool area.
  • Hockey helmets must be worn anytime when there are sticks and/or puck/ball being
    used on the ice.
  • Facility usage is reserved for Staff, LSSU Student Athletes, and Facility Renters.
  • Running, pushing, hitting, spitting or dangerous horseplay are not allowed.
  • Rollerblading is not allowed.
  • Floor hockey is not allowed.
  • Rough, loud, and unseemly language or conduct is not allowed.
  • Use of arena suites (including the seats outside the suites) is allowed only to individuals
    possessing a key to the suites.
  • No persons, sticks or pucks are allowed on the ice surface while the zamboni is on the
    ice and the zamboni area doors are open./li>
  • All persons attending scheduled games or other events in the area must be able to
    produce a ticket stub, stamp, pass, or other applicable proof of legal admittance upon
    request of arena monitors
  • Locker room usage is reserved for Students, Staff, Faculty, and Norris Center Members.
  • Individuals 12 years old and under must be accompanied by a supervising individual
    who is at least 16 years old.
  • No photography, video or phone calls in all locker rooms.
  • Harassment, inappropriate conduct, or disruptive behavior is prohibited.
  • Lockers are available for use and be locked while users are in the facility, but must be
    cleared out by the end of the day.
  • Long Term Use lockers are available to rent. Inquire with Norris Center Staff if
    interested.
  • Please report any issues to Norris Center Staff
  • Members and guests must be 16 and older to use the sauna.
  • Use one ladle of water at a time on the sauna rocks. Allow water to completely
    evaporate before adding more water.
  • Nudity is prohibited. Light clothing, swimsuits, and towels are acceptable.
  • No metal or glass allowed in the sauna.
  • Limit time in the sauna to 30 minutes
  • Do not hang or set any items near the sauna stove
