Welcome to the Office of Information Technology at Lake Superior State University.
As CIO, I’m honored to lead a talented and dedicated team committed to keeping LSSU’s technology secure, reliable, and aligned with the evolving needs of our campus. After nearly two decades at the university, I’ve seen how the right tools and the right people can make a lasting difference in how we teach, learn, and work.
The past year has brought meaningful progress. We completed major lab upgrades this summer as part of our five-year replacement plan, ensuring no lab system is older than five years and better matching our resources to current student needs. We transitioned our outdated phone system to a modern VoIP solution, rolled out multi-factor authentication to strengthen account security, and tightened network access controls to better protect university data.
But IT is more than just systems and security it’s about people. Whether we’re troubleshooting classroom technology, supporting academic programs, or partnering with departments across campus, our work is rooted in collaboration, service, and trust. We believe in building strong relationships and fostering a tech environment where everyone feels supported and empowered.
Looking ahead, we remain focused on advancing our cybersecurity posture, refining data reporting capabilities, and improving our digital presence starting with key updates to our website. Through every initiative, our goal is to deliver smart, sustainable technology solutions that help move LSSU forward.
Thank you for visiting. I hope this space gives you a glimpse into the work happening behind the scenes to support our incredible campus community.
Thank you,
Julie Hober
