Lake Superior State University Earns Top Ranking in 2024 Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report

Marie, MI) – Lake Superior State University (LSSU) is proud to announce its outstanding performance in the prestigious 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings for Regional Colleges in the U.S. They earned top honors by being recognized as the #1 Top Public School in the Regional Colleges Midwest category, solidifying their position as a leading institution of higher education.ย LSSU is known for its commitment to quality teaching and hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for rewarding careers.
The U.S. News and World Report rankings, released on September 18, 2023, are based upon factors such as graduation and retention rates, social mobility, reputation, faculty resources, financial resources per student, and graduate indebtedness.ย The U.S. is divided into four regions and the Midwest region includes 12 states.ย ย To be classified as a regional college among the rankings, the college or university must focus on undergraduate education and award fewer than half of the degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

Many of the categories considered in the rankings are part of LSSUโs Strategic Plan.ย In particular, LSSU has goals related to graduation and retention rates, social mobility, and quality teaching.ย LSSUโs low faculty-to-student ratio allows for exceptional education and mentoring.
