Paddington 2is the sequel to the hugely successful 2014 movie Paddington, which was based on the best-selling and internationally adored books by British author, the late, great Michael Bond.
It tells the continuing story of Paddington (a live-action puppet voiced by Ben Whishaw), a young Peruvian bear who comes to London in search of a home and a family. Having found that home with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, life is pretty good for Paddington.
While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s (played by Imelda Staunton) forthcoming 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s (Jim Broadbent) antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But the book has also caught the eye of local celebrity, the actor Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant), whose designs on the book are less than altruistic.
Paddington 2 has a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and is currently one of the best-rated films on the site. It received three nominations at the 71st British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), including for Best British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role, for Hugh Grant.
The Arts Center brings three the more family movie favorites to its big screen through August – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on July 24, followed by Peter Rabbiton July 31. Showings are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m. The series wraps with three screenings of Avengers Infinity Waron Aug. 9 (7 p.m.) and Aug 10. (1 p.m. and 7 p.m.). All Avenger tickets are $5.
