The Information Technology Helpdesk at Lake Superior State University is your first stop for tech support on campus. Whether you’re a student trying to connect to Wi-Fi, a faculty member setting up classroom technology, or a staff member needing assistance with your device or account, our dedicated Helpdesk team is here to help.

Who We Are

The Helpdesk is staffed by a knowledgeable and friendly team of professionals and student workers who are trained to assist with a wide range of technical issues. We pride ourselves on being approachable, responsive, and solution-focused. Our goal is to get you back up and running as quickly as possible, with clear communication every step of the way.

What We Do

  • Account and Login Help: Trouble with passwords or logging into campus systems like
My.LSSU, your LSSU email, or campus computers? We’ve got you covered.
  • Software Support: Need help installing or using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or
course-related software? We can walk you through it.
  • Limited Hardware Troubleshooting: We’re happy to help diagnose hardware problems,
but we cannot open cases or perform repairs on non-university devices, as doing so could
    void warranties or cause damage.
  • Network Assistance: We can help you get connected to campus Wi-Fi and troubleshoot
    connection problems.
  • Classroom and Lab Technology: We maintain and support the technology in lecture halls,
conference rooms, and campus computer labs.
  • Loaner Equipment: We manage the checkout of student laptops and ensure they’re ready
to go with essential software and updates.
  • E-Waste Disposal: You can drop off old or broken tech (laptops, cables, etc.) at the
Helpdesk, and we’ll recycle it safely and responsibly.
  • 2FA & Security: We assist with setting up multi-factor authentication and offer advice on
    keeping your accounts secure.

Our Philosophy

We believe that technical support should never feel intimidating. That’s why we focus on clear explanations, respectful service, and a commitment to follow-through. Our team understands that technology is essential to your work and studies, and we’re here to make it as easy and reliable as possible.

Student Support and Employment

Our Helpdesk is also home to a team of talented student workers who gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, customer service, and IT operations. If you’re interested in joining the team, check out our student employment opportunities!
